Mmm, mmm, my husband and I love the blues and strolled down Beale Street one night imagining the old days, stopping at BB's club for a fabulous show (not with BB, though). Thanks for making the connection with griots! My daughter recently had a school assignment to act as a griot (sans banjo) and now I understand better what that was all about.

1. Don Quixote (Cervantes)
2. Chronicle of a Death Foretold (Garcia-Marquez)
3. Possession (Byatt)
4. The Periodic Table (Levi)
5. The Pickwick Papers (Dickens)
6. Light in August (Faulkner)
7. The Collected Stories of Flannery O'Connor
8. To the Lighthouse - (Woolf)
9. The Sound & the Fury - (Faulkner)
10. Legends, Leaders, Legacies - (Vollmer)
11. This House on Fire - (Awmiller)
I realize I'm over the limit but I had to get Craig's book in there, too! Funny that fiction came to mind first because these days I'm reading mostly non-fiction. Rising Tide was a great read - all about the big flood in the 20s we heard about as kids. I'm now in the middle of Ghosts of Spain, a book about modern Spanish culture and Franco's legacy.

As an added note, several persons who I have spoken with since I posted this blog said they thought the epilogue should have been left off. Maybe so.

I forgot about Mary Stewart's great Merlin series, which I discovered as a teen and loved! I'll have to read The Crystal Cave again.

Congratulations, Susan. You have taken the most important step. Stay with it. Be authentic. And be consistent. You will eventually develop an audience. Kind regards.
